The refurbishment of deck 5 aboard m/v Ortelius-2014

In 2013 Oceanwide Expeditions had the idea to further upgrade the Polar expedition vessel 'Ortelius'. 

The idea became reality and the goal was to finish all activities during the annual docking in spring 2014.

The plan: a complete deck refurbishment of deck 5.
The target date: 21st of May, 2014.

As preparation a demolition team boarded the vessel to use the time of the crossing from Ushuaia, Argentina to the shipyard in the Netherlands, for tearing down the old deck....

This is what happened upon arrival, from 22 April at the shipyard in the Netherlands...

登上真正極地考察船「比蘭索斯號」m/v Plancius 
「比蘭索斯號」 m/v Plancius 前身為荷蘭皇家海軍南極海 洋探險船,專門探索偏遠極地海岸及於密集冰海航行;
由 44 位經驗豐富的極地船員管理及駕駛(當中有 7 位極地專家 及 1 位醫生),可載客 114 名。更備有 10 艘橡皮艇,用作登 陸或靠近冰川邊緣觀察冰雪形態及野生動物。
